How
You Can Help
-
Visit these pages of SEGO’s website often
for latest developments!
-
Contact your Senators and Representative.
Contact information is here.
-
Invite him or her to accompany you to
the chemotherapy suite to see what is involved in quality cancer
care. (We need to do this in August while our
lawmakers are in Georgia. Please pester them so they will come
visit this month! If you find a lawmaker who would like to
plan a visit to a chemotherapy suite, please get the appropriate
contact person’s name and phone number and call Caroline Young at
678.420.4272.)
-
Thank Senators Miller and Chambliss for
signing the Brownback letter (which calls for balanced Medicare
reform). Thank Representatives Isakson and Majette for signing the
Schrock, Capps, Norwood letter (the corresponding House letter).
Ask Representatives Scott and Lewis to sign the Schrock, Capps,
Norwood letter.
-
Ask them to persuade conference
committee members, the House and Senate leadership, and the Bush
administration to pursue balanced Medicare reform—not at the
expense of cancer patients.
-
Contact members of the conference
committee and tell them to Support Cancer Care!
-
Contact the local media and ask them to
cover this important story.
-
Clip coverage of the issue and send it to
your senators and representative as well as the conferees.
-
Write down your story—how community-based
cancer care has improved your cancer experience; how hospital-based
cancer care would negatively affect you—and forward it to Caroline
Young (emails are preferred—send to
cyoung@segynonc.com) for compilation. (Caroline will forward your
stories to supportive lawmakers for use during the debates on the bill
and as supplemental information.)
-
Consider writing essays/letters to the
editor for local and national media outlets. (Newsweek readers may
want to submit a “My Turn” essay.)
-
If you have other ideas or questions,
please contact Caroline Young at SEGO 678.420.4272.
