In addition to offering medical treatment, SEGO also offers patients the services of a medical social worker. Katherine Easton, LCSW, provides a wide range of supportive services to our patients and families. The medical social worker serves as an important component to SEGO's comprehensive, multi-disciplinary approach to patient care.

Ms. Easton is licensed as a Clinical Social Worker in the state of Georgia. She has over 20 years of clinical social work expertise in medical settings. She earned her masters degree in Social Work from San Francisco State University. She is a member of the National Association of Oncology Social Workers.

Patients and their family members can receive many kinds of free social work assistance including:

information about local, national, international and internet resources
help with health insurance issues regarding Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance
advocacy with hospitals and doctor's offices regarding outstanding medical bills and charity status applications
referrals to Home Health Care and Hospice agencies when those services are ordered by our doctors
coping support for patients, their families, and their friends
enrollment in our SEGO Buddies program for patients, or our SEGO Care Giver Buddies program for caregivers
facilitation of effective patient / family communication with each other, and with our clinical team of medical experts
obtaining reduced cost or free medication for low-income patients who have no insurance coverage for medicines
